FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Depending on you and your family's financial circumstances, you may be eligible for federal grants, work study, and student loans, and most colleges use the FAFSA to determine your need for institutional financial aid. You will complete a FAFSA for each year you attend college.
If you are not a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen, make sure you complete the ORSAA (Oregon Student Aid Application). Click here for more information.
An FSA ID is required to complete the FAFSA and can serve as your legal signature. If you are a dependent, your parent/guardian (contributor) will need to create their own FSA ID as well. Create your FSA ID here.
You will need to gather information including your Social Security number and your contributor's federal tax return from the previous year. For a list of documents you will need to complete your FAFSA, visit this page. We have also created a FAFSA worksheet to help you gather key information for your application so you can be ready to go when it becomes available.
If you are planning to attend college starting in the Fall of 2024, you will complete the FAFSA for 2025-2026, which will become available online December. Click here for the latest news on the FAFSA. It is important to note, that completing the FAFSA as early as you can, will help you to maximize your potential financial aid.Â
GPHS offers a FAFSA workshop night every Fall, and staff are available to any family that needs assistance completing their FAFSA. Make an appointment to get individual help with your application.
After submitting your FAFSA, you'll receive your FAFSA Submission Summary, which will include your Student Aid Index (SAI). Your SAI is the amount your family is expected to contribute to your education.
