Internship (Student Learning Experiences) and Work Experience are two ways you can earn high school credit for time you spend in a work environment. For a more detailed look at the differences between these programs, see this document.
Work Experience allows students to practically apply the skills and instruction they receive in the classroom at a chosen training/work site in the community or at the school.
Internships allow students the opportunity to apply specific workplace skills in a setting that best meets their career goals and interests. See below for more information.
Stop in the Career Center or contact Ms. Bland if you are interested in getting a student learning or work experience on your schedule.

Student Learning Experience (SLE) are typically unpaid, 65-100 hour experiences placing 11th and 12th grade students in real-world work situations learning from a business or industry professional. Students can get academic credit for doing an SLE. Students may do an SLE during the school day, after school, or on weekends if the business hours permit. Each SLE has specific educational goals and can help students meet pre-program requirements for some programs of study in Oregon's Public Community Colleges and Universities. The SLE can also be a major factor in students being chosen for scholarships. SLE's build work ready "professional/soft skills" as well as give students social capital and industry contacts for resume building.
