This artifact comes from when I attended an SOR (Science of Reading) leadership meeting with my clinical instructor.
Attending a Science of Reading meeting with Mrs. Weir provided valuable insights into evidence-based reading instruction, focusing on phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. While we are currently in a fifth-grade classroom and do not need to focus on phonics, it was amazing to see everything that I have already been learning being taught to other instructors. Returning to the classroom, we integrated these research-backed strategies into lessons, emphasizing explicit instruction and multisensory activities to support development. Through collaboration and ongoing assessment, Mrs. Weir tailored instruction to meet the diverse needs of the students, fostering a culture of literacy excellence and empowering students to become critical thinkers.
