This artifact comes from a time that I witnessed my CI make a parent call about a student that had been acting up more frequently in class.
Observing my CI respond to a parent in such a professional and accommodating manner was incredibly beneficial to my growth as a future teacher. Firstly, it highlighted the importance of effective communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with parents or guardians. By maintaining professionalism and empathy, my CI demonstrated the significance of establishing positive relationships with families to support student learning and well-being. Additionally, witnessing my CI address the parent's concerns with understanding and flexibility underscored the importance of active listening and problem-solving in resolving conflicts or addressing parental inquiries. This experience provided me with valuable insights into navigating parent-teacher relationships, emphasizing the need for collaboration and mutual respect to create a supportive educational environment for students. Observing my CI's approach equipped me with practical strategies for managing challenging situations diplomatically and fostering open communication channels with parents, essential skills for effective teaching and parental engagement in the future.
