This artifact comes from an assignment I completed for my EDRD 400 class. I had the opportunity to conduct several different academic assessments, working with a fifth-grade student. I was able to observe the differences in students' behavior and knowledge based on age and grade level.
Throughout this assignment, I felt confident in what I was doing, I was able to instruct and ask questions in a clear and understanding way. I was able to address questions and answer them in a way that the student could understand, which is always a major confidence boost. When going through school one can worry about if they will actually be good at what they aspire to do, but this is always an experience that can reassure you that you are on the right path. I’m able to see how much enjoyment comes with shaping the minds of the future. Something I realize that I will have to work on is how to approach an overly confident student and how to explain that it’s not always as easy for others around them. Overall, it was a great session and a great experience. I enjoyed getting to know the student and getting to see how intelligent he was. I feel that every experience I have with a student is guiding me for my future in the classroom.
