Dear Community Members,
The Global Jaya School campus is buzzing with cheerful students, innovative projects and initiatives, great student-led assemblies, and many extra-curricular and after-school activities from Monday to Friday. We look forward with great anticipation to next week's Athletics Carnivals, an opportunity for our youngest through to our older students to compete for their Elang, Garuda and Rajawali houses while also proudly displaying their school spirit.
On Friday, September 15, an afternoon of celebration was held in the GJS Theatre and canteen area as seventeen Global Jaya School colleagues (along with twenty-four faculty from Sekolah Pembangunan Jaya and Universitas Pembangunan Jaya) were recognized for their long service dedication to GJS and our Yayasan Pendidikan Jaya. The Yayasan itself also celebrated its 32nd Anniversary. If you see our colleagues, offer them heartfelt congratulations and a gracious thank you for their ongoing commitment to our school, faculty, students, and the wider GJS community. Please join us in further congratulating:

We are pleased to have recently published our first-ever Global Jaya School Annual Report. Through this yearly publication, we seek to capture, recognize and celebrate our achievements in a lasting, open and transparent manner that can be shared with the various stakeholders that comprise our wonderful Global Jaya School community. Further, this report affords us an outreach opportunity to share what is so great and unique about GJS with those who are not currently members of our community but who may be looking to join us. This would include families seeking to enrol their children or educators, both Indonesian and Expat, who desire to learn more about what we value and what life in Global Jaya can be like. We would like to thank everyone who made this annual report a reality.
Please access the 2022-2023 Annual Report either by entering the GJS website, About Us -> Schoolwide Action Plan -> Submenu for Annual Reports or by clicking on the following links to access reports in either English or Bahasa Indonesia.

The Global Jaya School Board is comprised of 3 Directors from our Yayasan Pendidikan Jaya, 3 Parent Representatives (one for each of the PYP, MYP and DP programmes), 2 Faculty Representatives (one each for Indonesian and Expat faculty), the GJS Parents Association Chairperson, our General Manager and myself as Head of School. This advisory body convenes three to four times per school year to discuss a wide range of matters related to GJS operation and management: student enrolment, student achievement, staffing, school fees, risk assessment, strategic planning and so on. In particular, the Parent and Faculty Representatives help the board understand prevalent concerns and viewpoints from their perspective as parents and faculty community members. The information shared, inputs and feedback provided help to guide School Leadership in performing their functions with the school's day-to-day operations.

Next Thursday, 5th October, and Friday, 6th October, we host our Term 1 Mid Semester Conferences. We look forward to full engagement across the school campus over these two days. Whether you are new or a long-existing family of GJS, we strongly encourage you to meet your child (ren)'s teachers to discuss their progress since the start of the semester. THANK YOU from all faculty, staff and leadership to our wider community. Our start of the year, now two months in, has been tremendously positive and action-packed. Stakeholders' overwhelming support and positivity are greatly appreciated as much as they are welcomed.
We will launch a one-page Friday news bulletin - GLOBAL Insights - to inform our community members of upcoming important school-related activities. This update message to the community will be published on Fridays between our end-of-month KONTAK newsletter publications.
Whereas KONTAK is currently archival, capturing events that have already occurred during the previous month, GLOBAL Insights will focus on the weeks ahead, ensuring our community is updated with what will be going on in and around the GJS campus.
Look for the first edition to be launched AFTER our term break, with publication on Friday, October 20, 2023, and circulation/distribution through Managebac to all community members.
Please remember that our weeklong Fall Break will be from 7th October to 15th October 2023. Term 2 resumes for students on Monday, 16th October, 2023. Please enjoy your break, engage in family activities, and cut the electronic devices used, as you have earned a well-deserved, well-timed break from your school routines.
Warm regards,
