Year 3

UOI 1 Culmination Project Presentation

The Year 3 students recently concluded their “Who We Are” learning unit with a culmination project presentation. The central theme of the unit revolved around how self-awareness can contribute to conflict resolution. In groups of 4-5 students, the students engaged in a role-play skit that showcased their understanding of the concepts explored throughout the unit.

To kickstart the project, the students put their heads together and crafted a script for their role-play. They were afforded the freedom to choose from a range of conflict types, including conflicts with oneself, other individuals, nature, or even a group/community. The scripts showed different types of conflicts and presented possible solutions. They also created the props and setting. By working closely together, they practiced their performances to convey the essence of their chosen conflict and its resolution.

The event took place on Thursday, September 14th, where the Year 3 students showcased their role-plays to their peers. Following each presentation, the classmates provided constructive feedback using the "compliment sandwich" method. This feedback approach began with a compliment, followed by suggestions for improvement, and concluded with another compliment. 

In addition to the knowledge gained, the students also showed themselves to be effective communicators, collaborative team members, and critical thinkers. Furthermore, the presentation served as a platform for the students to develop and showcase their social skills.

In summary, the culminating project presented an excellent opportunity for the Year 3 students to showcase their comprehensive understanding of the unit's central idea while simultaneously fostering essential skills and competencies. Their effort, creativity, and growth in this endeavor were truly commendable, making this activity a success.

Kegiatan Provokasi Unit 2 (Berbagi Planet Bumi)

Hari Senin, 18 September 2023, kami memulai unit baru yaitu unit Berbagi Planet Bumi dengan ide sentral Aktivitas manusia dapat mengubah hubungan dalam bioma. 

Batasan inkuiri yang kami pelajari adalah:

• Karakteristik dari bioma yang berbeda.

• Hubungan antara makhluk hidup dan tak hidup dalam bioma.

• Bagaimana aktivitas manusia mempengaruhi bioma.

Sebagai kegiatan provokasi, pada hari Kamis, 21 September 2023, kami menonton film dokumenter dari Netflix dengan judul Our Planet.

Kami dapat melihat kehidupan dari jenis-jenis hewan di beberapa area di bumi dan keterkaitan antara hewan pemangsa dan yang dimangsa. Kami juga melihat bagaimana aktivitas manusia merusak tempat hidup hewan-hewan tersebut. 

Saat menonton film ini, kami diberikan kesempatan untuk menulis pertanyaan di buku UOI kami dan menyampaikan pertanyaan kami di sesi diskusi di sela-sela kegiatan menonton film tersebut. 

Dengan kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat menarik minat kami untuk lebih bersemangat untuk mempelajari tentang bioma di mingu-minggu berikutnya serta melakukan riset untuk mencari jawaban dari pertanyaan yang telah kami tulis di kegiatan ini.
