Pak Anto:
Tuesday 21st and Thursday 23rd September were great moments for the year 9 students to orient/reorient themselves with each other and with the GJS campus.
For the new students, this was the first opportunity for them to meet with other students and to begin to get to know each other. It was also a great opportunity for students who were more familiar with GJS to recall how it feels to be on campus for their learning. After one and a half years of studying from home, many of the students now have new hope and spirit that some aspects of their education are beginning to return to how education used to be, prior to the pandemic.
During the orientation events, we noticed that many of the students were both happy and curious about how it will feel to work from campus. The orientation events provided a fantastic opportunity for students to be able to ask questions about the new blended learning model. Students also enjoyed a tour, a discussion activity with the counsellor and ice breaker games with the Head of Year / Dean of Students.
As a Head of Year 9 and Teacher, I would like to thank the Year 9 Advisory Teachers team. Pak Sanjay, Pak Ali, Pak Chris, and Ibu Christine, for your effort to support year nine students this term.
For Year 9 students, I am proud of you for your enthusiasm to come back and study on Campus.
Pak Chris:
On Thursday 23 September we once again had students in the school for Orientation Day. After a year and a half online students arrived with a mixture of excitement and trepidation. The first problem was of course identifying students who we had occasionally seen online and now they had masks on so we could only see half their faces. We soon managed to figure out who was who and started to enjoy the day. The biggest problem was of course keeping the 1.5m distance as students were excited to be together again. All in all it was a great day and so much fun to have students back at school.
