Year 3

My Art Shape!

In our UOI 1 Who We Are unit, we learned about shapes and the properties of shapes. Students explored their understanding of regular and irregular polygons. They learned to identify the symmetry lines of each shape. We used the concept of form to examine our knowledge of shapes better. To close off this activity we combined our Social Emotional Learning activities connected to self-management and self-motivation to create beautiful art work. We practiced our creativity by creating a drawing or painting inspired by shapes. We chose the shapes, drew and arranged the position of the shapes, and added colours to the shapes. Everyone involved was very impressed with our finished artwork. Students demonstrated creativity in their art pieces.

UOI 1 Culmination Project Presentation

Year 3 had the opportunity to explore their understanding of how to resolve a conflict in their own personal lives. Students were encouraged to explore an example of some type of conflict and how they dealt with the situation. Students were empowered to choose multiple formats to present their situation. Each example told their story of what led to the conflict and how they could better resolve this conflict in the future. Year 3 students demonstrated strong audience skills listening to their classmates.
