As part of our 1st unit, I made a fractured fairy tale. I am going to tell you the process of that, and what I learned. The video I made of my storytelling is below.
We listened to twisted fairytales, and we even watched movies that were twisted fairytales. Sometimes the plot was different, and sometimes the characters were different. It was interesting. After comparing and contrasting different stories, we made our own.
We had to:
Compare and contrast stories on Epic: We noted what was the same and different between stories.
Change a real story: We didn’t copy the whole story, we just got inspired by it, then used it in our own words to make a different story from the real one.
Edit: When we read our stories and double-check our work so that the grammar in the stories were correct. Writing the story was hard, we needed to think about what to add next and make sure the spelling was correct. But we tried our best to make the story with imagination.
Peer Assess: When we peer-assessed, it was fun reading the story and giving a grade. We didn’t say everything was wrong, but every person makes mistakes.
Listen: We had to other people’s stories by turning on our cameras and giving comments or questions. This is what we did as active audience members.
Present: I felt nervous, but I just realized I recorded it, so I didn’t need to worry about reading it out loud. Doing the puppet show was very very hard.
Reflect: I am proud of when I presented the puppet show (recorded), I put a lot of effort into reading the story and making the puppet theater. All my classmates loved it!
