Year 8

Year 8 Small group and Whole Year 8 Orientation to Campus Event

The year 8 small group transition orientation was held on Tuesday, 21^st September 2021 at 07:45-10:10 am and the whole year level orientation event was held on Wednesday, 22nd September 2021 at 12.00 pm-15.00 pm. The objectives of these orientation events were:

● to build community,

● to provide information/familiarization with the campus,

● to connect/reconnect students with their peers, their teachers, and their support network,

● to share processing of student HBL and covid experiences.

Students engaged in the following activities;

A school tour guided by their advisory teacher. Students were able to reorient to campus, meet up with teachers as well as understand covid secure restrictions in place on campus. The advisory teachers were able to support discussion and answer student questions as they toured the campus facilities.

Ms. Vicki (the Dean of Students) and Pak Tofan (Head of Year 8) led a session of fun icebreaker games designed to help students to relax and have fun with each other so that they felt connected.

Bu Dece, the year 8 counsellor, spent time with each advisory class and facilitated a discussion based activity where students were able to share their perspectives and experiences. Bu Dece was able to support the students with the active problem solving of issues and questions that students had about being back on campus.

Advisory class time was an opportunity to ensure that all students felt like they had a voice that was heard as well as for students to understand how their experiences connect with those of their peers.

A total of 12 year 8 students participated in the small group orientation, with 36 year 8 students joining us for the year group orientation event.

By using health protocols such as antigen examination, always wearing a mask, and maintaining a distance of 1.5 meters throughout the events, Year 8 students participated with enthusiasm and positive energy. As the year 8 students exited the campus they spoke of feeling more relaxed about returning to campus based blended learning.

Thank you to Year 8 parents, the Leadership Team, Secondary Principals, Dean of Students, Year 8 Advisors (Ibu Estina 8A, Pak Irwan 8B, Pak Rizky 8C and Bu Nova 8D) and Counselor (Ibu Reni and Ibu Dece) so that the Year 8 Small group and year level orientation events ran well.
