At the end of UOI 1, under the trans theme “Sharing the planet”, Year 6 students were required to present the results of their inquiry on how the government and society can find solutions to issues that will contribute to the sustainability of the development of the country. Students used various media to show the results of their understanding of their topics.
Meanwhile, this month's weekly PYP Exhibition sessions had the Year 6 students identifying which trans theme really connected with their chosen topic. The students justified the connection between a relevant trans theme and their chosen topic by explaining how particular descriptors of that trans theme connect with their chosen topic.
Once Year 6 students have identified the connection between their chosen topic and a relevant trans theme, the next step will be an inquiry into their chosen topic's global and local connections. The purpose of this step is to provide Year 6 students with an understanding of the level of significance of their chosen topic, whether their topic is only relevant locally or relevant worldwide.
