Dear parents and Global Jaya School Community,
October has been an exciting month for Hawks students in the MYP Programme!
Grade 10:
Students are continuing to work on the IB MYP Personal Project. Criterion B - their product is due on November 27th. Please review the GJS Personal Project website to view weekly updates and due dates. Great questions to ask your student:
How is your product coming along? Would you like me to give you any feedback on your product?
Do you need any support with time management?
Describe for me your learning goal and your product goal.
Also, grade 10 students had a presentation on Wednesday, October 25th by Rosalin Mesah form CIAFLO and our GJS University Counselor Ibu Dian. Beginning October 27th, students will be taking the CIAFLO assessment to give them guidance on university majors and possible career paths as well as begin to research the university application process.
IB MYP eAssessment and ePortfolio
Global Jaya is excited to become a leader in the IB region by launching the IB MYP eAssessment for Mathematics and Product Design for grade 10 students this year. Parents attended a parent workshop on October 31st to learn more about how ATL (Approaches to Learning) and the Learner Profile are integrated at Global Jaya. Additionally, parents learned about the MYP eAssessments and ePortfolios and how they will grow to enhance teaching and learning for all students in the MYP. Plans were also shared about future growth of these assessments and the positive impact they will have. Please message Ibu Sue if you have any further questions about eAssessment at Global Jaya. sue@globaljaya.com
Book Talk - Grades 7 and 8 MYP Core
Grades 7 and 8 presented their books to their MYP core classes on October 31st. Students were focusing on their ATL skill of communication and their Learner Profile traits of Communicator, Knowledgeable, and Risk Taker. This event was also a part of Book Week with our amazing librarian Ibu Aprinda. Students selected a paper version of a book to read from the library and then presented their book to their class where they focused on presentational speaking skills. Their peers gave positive feedback and Learner Profile awards were presented on Friday, November 3rd. Congratulations to the winners!
