In Bahasa Indonesia integrated with Art lessons, the Reception students have learned the letters of the alphabet: B, C, and D. They have learned to write the names of objects that start with these letters and make simple sentences from the words that have been mentioned by the teachers. For the next activity, we continued to make arts and crafts that started with the letters we learned such as “b for burung”, “c for capung”, and “ d for domba. The children were happy to see their artwork and we decided to display it in the classroom.
In the UOI lesson, the Reception Teachers did show and tell about traditions in their family. They explained their role in their extended family. They also explained some special events in their family such as birthdays, Christmas, New Year and Eid. This activity aimed to help the students understand their role in a larger group.
As a continuation of the provocation activities carried out by the Reception Teachers, we watched a movie and used four-square organizers to ask the students about what the main character roles were in the movie. Students shared their findings of the character roles within the two classes.
