On Thursday, 21 September, Year 2 had a Healthy Food Picnic on the Primary Playground before break time. This picnic was a frontloading activity that connects with our second Unit of Inquiry around healthy choices, with the central idea “The choices people make impact their health and well-being”. It gave the children an opportunity to select a healthy snack and explain why they had brought it.
Students were asked to bring a healthy snack to school on this day. They were asked to select and purchase their healthy snack on their own. Alternatively, they could prepare their own healthy snack at home.
During the Athletics Carnival, we are happy that students were participating and doing their best while taking part in the games. The Carnival involved collaboration and the demonstration of individual skills as students participated in different games individually and in groups (relay race). Moreover, students were risk takers during the Carnival and they also supported other students from different year levels. They took part in a cheering competition based on their house.
As a part of Book Week, the PYP will have a door decoration competition where all primary classroom doors will be decorated following a book theme. 2A picked “The Name Jar” and 2B picked “Wolfie the Bunny”. We have been working hard on creating our door decorations and are excited to show them to others. The winning door will be announced at the end of Book Week on November 3rd.
