My Poem Reading
Rayyan 4B
In this unit, I learn about natural resources. One of the subjects in Bahasa Indonesia, our lovely teacher Ibu Yulia gave us a task to make a poem tied in with the theme of this unit.
I choose to make my own poem about saving water with the title “Air Bersih Dari Tuhan”. This is quite challenging and exciting at the same time for me because not only do I have to write my own poem but also I have to read it in front of my classmates.
Luckily my teacher gave us some details about how to make a great poem from the start until how we present it well.
The basics of the poems are to tell a story, to act out of drama, and to communicate ideas and feelings. We know that words can create images in our minds. And what do we notice about the words? Are the words creating patterns, rhythms, rhymes, or have a musical quality to them?
YES! In my poems I tried my best to write rhyming words so it will be easy to understand by the audience. When I read it, I insert the music to make it more dramatic, so they will feel the meaning of my poems.
The most important thing is not only that I write and read my poems but also I persuade the audience to take care of our earth by saving the water!
That’s the best feeling of writing and reading poems!

Alam Indonesiaku
Anka 4BIntroduction:
In this unit, we learned about how to write and read a poem about nature, how to do voice and facial expressions when reading a poem, etc. We have to pick one of the themes from the UN Sustainable Development Goals and write a poem about it in Bahasa Indonesia. After that, we have to read the poem. I made a poem about sustainable cities and communities while my other friends chose the other UNSDG themes. I added music in the background for my poem reading so it will look more interesting. It is quite complicated because I can’t add the music when I was at school because it might echo. So, I record my poem reading video at home.
About the assessment criteria:
We worked together to create our assessment criteria. First, we watched last year’s poem reading videos from Ibu Yulia’s class. Ibu Yulia asked us to compare the quality of performances and grade the works. Then, after we grade the poem reading presentations, Ibu Yulia asked what make us decide to give 1/2/3/4/5 for each video. After that, we discussed our own criteria. We ended up with these criteria, what to look at when we are reading our poem;
Confident - read poetry out loud and clear.
Articulation (pronunciation of words).
Intonation (rhythm).
Facial and body expressions according to the message of the poem.
Creativity - dramatize, add a musical background, etc.
About my poem:
My poem is called “Alam Indonesiaku”. It is about nature in Indonesia and how people destroy it. I use various facial expressions to show how I feel about the problem. I also added the song to show how I feel.
Last week, I went to Purwokerto for my swimming competition. It is called Dulongmas Championship where athletes all over Java came to compete. My sister, Eryn and I were selected by our swimming team to participate. We represented our swimming team, Pesut Swimming Academy. This year, the Dulongmas Championship took place in Owabong Waterpark which is in Purwokerto. It is held from the 20th October to the 21st October. We were from Bandung so it took 5 hours to reach. The journey in the car was a bumpy one that I got car sick. We had to stop for awhile and eat at a restaurant before proceeding.
Upon arrival, I met my swimming team at the competition pool for warm up. We then checked into the hotel at night. Before we sleep , we had to listen to my coach instructions. My coach encouraged us and told us that it was never about winning. We are here to gain valuble experience.
When I woke up on the day of the competition all jittery, I went down and ate breakfast and wore my swimming trunks and team jersey. I felt nervous as I was told there were 900+ athletes all over Java. I believe that my sister feels the same way too. This is our biggest race ever. We then headed to the Owabong swimming pool.
Both my sister and I participated in 2 events each. We were selected for the 50m freestyle and also 50m breast stroke event.
When I reached, I waited for my turn for a long time. Finally, it was my turn for my 50 meters breast stroke event. I was in the 5th place during my heats in breast stroke. All the swimmers were excellent. I was nervous but I tried to give my all. I had butterflies in my stomach throughout the event. It was nerve wrecking.
Next, it was my freestyle event. This time, I had overcome my fears. The whistle blew and I swam hard. I could hear my parents and coach voice cheering on me. I was glad that i got 3rd place in the heats. I was so happy. After that, i spent the day cheering for my sister and my other teammates.
It was an exhausting yet fulfilling day. Even though my sister and I did not bring any medals, I am glad that we gained valuable experience for keeps. After that my sister and I went to dinner with my swimming teammates. We had fun talking about our awesome day.
In Science Lessons, my friends and I did our experiments at home using five slices of bread. We must observe and record the changes that occur in the bread for about two weeks. The results of each person's observations are different regarding the condition of the five pieces of bread observed. The difference is because the treatment of our hands is different, thus affecting the results. But still, my friends and I can learn from our experiments and the effects of other people's experiments.
I also learned how to wash our hands properly to avoid getting sick and stay healthy!
In my reflection, after I learned everything, I realized that hand hygiene before eating is essential. If we don't wash our hands before and after eating, we can get sick. The reason is, harmful germs from our hands spread throughout the body, and we get sick when the germs spread.
