Dear Secondary Community,
It’s hard to believe we have already completed the first semester of the school year. It feels like just yesterday we were welcoming students back from the holidays. Reflecting on the calendar and all we’ve achieved as a community in these past months, I see how our time together has been both rich and meaningful, making it fly by.
As a new member of this incredible community, these past six months have been a journey of learning about the heart of GJS—what makes it so unique and special. I have witnessed firsthand the unwavering commitment and resilience of our teachers, determined to provide the guidance and support our students need to thrive and achieve their ambitious goals.
Our students have consistently impressed us with their creativity, drive, and leadership. From presenting their ideas with enthusiasm and organization to bringing them to life in the most impressive ways, they have demonstrated true agency and responsibility. Highlights like Hawks Cup, Halloween Night, and the blood drive are just a few examples of their dedication to creating impactful learning experiences for everyone.
This week, we had the privilege of attending a well-structured and engaging Student Council debate—a powerful example of democracy in action. By the time this newsletter is published, we will have also celebrated our first-ever TEDx GJS, marking yet another milestone. Truly, the sky is the limit for our students!
None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our parents. Your partnership is the foundation upon which we achieve our shared goals, and we are deeply grateful for your constant encouragement and involvement.
As we enter this holiday season, I encourage you to take time with your children to reflect on their achievements this semester and identify areas for growth in the next. With reports being released today, let this be the starting point for those important conversations. If there’s anything you’d like to discuss further, please don’t hesitate to reach out to their teachers after the holidays.
I wish you all a wonderful holiday season filled with family, joy, and reflection. Take this opportunity to recharge, reconnect, and adjust your focus as needed. Let’s return on January 6 with clear goals in mind and the conviction that, together, we can achieve them.
For those celebrating Christmas, may your festivities be filled with love and blessings. If you are traveling, I wish you safe journeys and happy returns.
