Year 5

Science Expo & Restoration Project

As part of the culmination activity for the UOI 2 How the World Works, Year 5 ran a Scientific Expo that focused on scientific forces. Throughout the unit, the Year 5 students learned about scientific forces and how humans utilize those scientific forces in their daily lives. During the expo, students used models to explain how the scientific forces work. Year 5 students were confident when they presented their topic to the audience using communication skills they had learned in class.

For UOI 3 Sharing the Planet, Year 5 students learned about restoration. Restoration is when we restore something to its original state. Throughout the unit, students learned about restoring various topics, ranging from restoring habitat to restoring relationships. As part of the action, Year 5 students will come to classes in Primary to present their restoration topic. One group already gave a presentation on their restoration topic to the Junior Green School Committee.
