Reading Aloud by Parents in Reception
Reception students were delighted to have some wonderful parents who took the time to read for them in the classroom. This month, we had Ibu Wanda, Ibu Mima, Ibu Ayu, Ibu Lini, Ibu Putri, Ibu Chendha, Ibu Lessa, and Ibu Liftia, who did a fantastic job reading aloud. Their expressive storytelling brought the books to life, capturing the imaginations of the young listeners. The children's eyes sparkled with excitement as they were transported to magical worlds filled with adventure and wonder.
Each parent brought a unique style and enthusiasm, making every session special and memorable. These moments fostered a love for reading among the students and strengthened the sense of community and connection between the school and families. We look forward to welcoming more parents in the future to share in this enriching experience.
Math ExplorationÂ
Reception students are continuing to explore measurement in Math. They have learned about ideas like taller and shorter, as well as lighter and heavier. They eagerly took part in activities where they compared the heights of different objects and weighed various items to deepen their understanding. Using rulers, they measured their classmates' heights, excited as they found out who was the tallest and who was the shortest in the class. They also used scales to weigh classroom items, guessing which would be heavier or lighter before checking their answers.
Through these fun activities, students not only improved their understanding of measurement but also developed their thinking and observation skills. The classroom was filled with curiosity and excitement as each child made their own discoveries, creating a supportive learning environment. This hands-on approach to Math gave the students a strong base in measurement, which they will continue to build on in future lessons.
Little Hands
Big Discoveries
On December 5th, Reception students showed off their projects from their unit on "How The World Works," which focused on colours, lights, and sounds. The event started with a performance of body percussion and music made from recycled instruments, welcoming parents, kindergarten, and Year 1 students to join in.
The event gave Reception students a chance to show their creativity and what they learned during the unit. Students shared their projects, which included colourful art pieces that showed how colours can affect our feelings and flashlight experiments that demonstrated how light makes shadows. They also presented sound projects featuring instruments made by the students, highlighting how vibrations create music.
The event helped unite people, letting parents celebrate their children's hard work while students practised speaking in front of others. There were interactive stations with fun activities like shadow puppets, mixing colours and exploring sounds, making the experience even better.
Overall, the event showed the importance of learning through questions and the excitement of discovering new things in early education, highlighting the students' curiosity and creativity as they look forward to their next learning adventures.
