The student council is a body that grows alongside its students. This means that, at some point, the burden of leadership must be passed down. As Angkatan ‘25 steps down from leadership in preparation for university, once again, new blood must be introduced to the council. January marked the beginning of this exciting journey as we began identifying potential candidates who would play a vital role in shaping our school community for the upcoming year.
In February, an official committee was formed to plan the recruitment and application process meticulously. This collaborative effort ensured that we created a fair and engaging experience for all candidates. On February 24, we released the sign-up form, giving students until February 28 to submit their applications. Candidates were required to complete an individual case study, showing us how they’d react to hypothetical but very real situations they’d have to face if they were to be chosen. Additionally, they were required to prepare for an in-person interview, allowing us to assess their skills and suitability for the council.
The case study prompts were published on March 2, just a day before the interviews. This allowed candidates to showcase their analytical skills and creativity in addressing real-world scenarios within a relatively short time frame. From March 3 to March 5, we conducted the interviews after school from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, providing a structured environment for candidates to present themselves, their ideas, and the value they’d bring to the council. We were pleased to receive a robust turnout, with a total of 23 candidates interviewed over the three days.
After careful evaluation of the interviews and case studies, we have selected a diverse and talented group of new members who will bring fresh ideas and perspectives to the Student Council. Each candidate demonstrated remarkable skills and a strong commitment to enhancing our school community. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all those who accepted and took this important step toward leadership. We look forward to seeing the impact our new Year 10 executives will make in the upcoming year!
