And just like that, in the blink of an eye, we find ourselves wrapping up another successful academic year at GJS. The final weeks are always rich with emotion as we celebrate milestones such as our seniors’ graduation, while also welcoming new MYP students making the transition from PYP.
Life at school is always in motion, welcoming new faces while bidding farewell to others. This week, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to our Year 12 students and their families as we celebrated their Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday, June 11, a true milestone in the lives of our students, their loved ones, and our entire community. We also say goodbye to teachers and staff members who are setting off on new journeys. To each of them, we offer our warmest wishes. Once a Hawk, always a Hawk.
Among the many meaningful events we’ve hosted in recent weeks are the Swim Meet, Athletic Assembly, Sports Day, Global Awards Ceremony, and Wellness Bazaar. One of the highlights of these final weeks was the announcement of the House Competition winner for this academic year, congratulations to Rajawali for this great achievement!
Staying true to our mission, we launched the school year on July 22 with new teacher induction and have kept the momentum going ever since, offering meaningful learning experiences both inside and beyond the classroom.
The dedication and resilience of every individual is what makes our community thrive. I want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all teachers for their commitment, and parents for their ongoing support throughout the year.
On a more personal note, I also want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone for the warm welcome into the GJS community. This year has been one of immense learning, as well as meaningful professional and personal growth, and I feel truly grateful to be part of such a vibrant and supportive school environment.
A letter was sent home last week with important reminders. Below are some key points:
Reports: Your child’s school report will be uploaded to ManageBac on June 13. You’ll receive an email once it’s available. For students in Years 7–10, i-Ready Literacy and Math growth reports will also be added to the Portfolio section.
Start of Classes: School resumes on Monday, August 11. A few days before, parents and students will receive a welcome message from Advisors with class assignments and helpful information for a smooth start.
Uniforms: We kindly ask for your support in ensuring students return in proper GJS uniforms that reflect school spirit and pride. With ample time to purchase new items, dress code expectations will be in place from the first day. You can see the policy here.
Holidays: We encourage families to help students enjoy a well-balanced break, resting, reconnecting, and staying intellectually active. Limiting screen time and encouraging reading, outdoor play, or creative activities will help them recharge and start strong next term.
Wishing you and your family a joyful, relaxing, and well-deserved break. We look forward to seeing everyone back in August, ready for another exciting year together.
Warm regards,
Nelsy Saravia
