Different Ways of Telling Stories
In the Unit of Inquiry, “How We Express Ourselves,” our Reception students are diving into the magical world of storytelling with great enthusiasm, discovering that stories can be shared in countless ways. Whether it’s through role play, stick puppets, puppet shows, drawing, or book-making, each method offers them a unique chance to unleash their creativity and share their narratives.
Role play gives children the chance to step into different characters' shoes, exploring emotions and scenarios with a mix of improvisation and imagination. Stick puppets and puppet shows let them bring these characters to life, using handmade puppets to act out stories, which helps them grasp dialogue and expression better. Drawing opens up a visual path for storytelling, where they can illustrate their stories with bright colors and shapes, turning their thoughts into lively images. Finally, making a book combines all these elements, guiding students through the process of crafting a tangible storybook that includes a beginning, middle, and end.
Through these varied activities, young learners begin to understand that storytelling is more than just words; it's about sharing parts of themselves with the world.

Moving Forward Ceremony
On June 5, Reception students, their parents, and teachers gathered for a special Moving Forward Ceremony to celebrate the children's journey and achievements. This heartwarming event offered a chance to reflect on everything they had accomplished during their Early Years.
It was a joyful occasion where everyone could partake in the celebration and prepare for the exciting adventures ahead. Parents played a crucial role in helping the students get ready for the performances they proudly presented that day. The children danced with enthusiasm, their moves and smiles filling the room with joy and innocence. They also sang a special song, “Something Just Like This.” Each performance was met with applause and cheers, as proud parents captured these precious moments on their cameras and phones.
As the ceremony continued, heartfelt speeches were delivered, expressing gratitude for the support and dedication of the entire school community.
After the performances, families gathered at the MPH for the class party, sharing stories and laughter while children played together, forging friendships that would carry them into their next stage of learning. The Moving Forward Ceremony was more than just a celebration; it was a testament to growth, community, and the exciting future awaiting these young learners. Keep shining in Year 1, amazing students!
