On their Assembly performance this term, Kindergarten students climbed up on stage to show "A Journey to Waterland”. They showcased what they have learned about Sharing The Planet and performed a song about nature. They also danced and acted as ocean and savanna animals. What made it so meaningful was that students chose what information they would like to share with the audience. As they developed their understanding that we share the planet with plants, animals, and other people, students also shared their understanding of the changes that happened in the environment. Sharing their own ideas helped them be confident on stage and own the performance.
What a way to celebrate the learning! As part of our way to educate the school community about the beautiful landscapes on Earth, our Kindergarten students held a special event called “Safari Day”. They showcased their understanding of natural environments of their choice, such as rivers, savannas, ponds, oceans, forests, and the polar area. In the spirit of sustainability, students learned to creatively reuse old calendars and turned them into beautiful pop-up books. Students worked hard on the book by bringing each natural environment to life through painting and drawing. In the process, students developed their research skills and their artistic abilities through observations on the characteristics of the natural environments and the animals that live in them. Students independently chose the parts they wanted to put in the pop-up books and decorated them. They proudly presented their work in a two-day exhibition-like situation, which was visited by many students from different levels of the Primary School. Students had the opportunity to enhance their self-management and communication skills during the day, and it was so precious to see how confident they were.
