On Thursday and Friday, May 15–16, 2025, the Year 4 students participated in a school camp held at The Highland Park Resort, Bogor, West Java.
This year’s camp was thoughtfully designed to offer meaningful opportunities for students to develop a range of essential life skills. The program aimed to help students make responsible decisions, increase self-awareness, demonstrate principled behavior, strengthen their organizational and social skills, foster independence, enhance teamwork, and cultivate a spirit of community.
Throughout the two-day event, students engaged in a series of structured indoor and outdoor activities such as team-building exercises, waterfall trekking, water-based challenges, mindfulness practices, and a talent show.
These activities provided students with valuable experiences that encouraged them to take greater responsibility for themselves, work collaboratively with peers, and grow in confidence and independence. It is hoped that these lessons will support their personal development and be applied in real-world contexts in the future.
On Friday, May 2, the Year 4 students impressed the school community with their “Living Museum,” a culminating project for their Unit of Inquiry, Where We Are in Place and Time. Each student selected a historical hero whose ideas changed the world and brought them to life through costumes, storytelling, and in-depth research. The heroes were grouped into four key categories: education, human rights, independence, and the environment. Speaking in the first person, students shared the life, struggles, and accomplishments of their chosen figures, effectively stepping into their shoes and bringing history to life.
Throughout the unit, students explored the impact their hero had on the world and used this knowledge to write a piece of historical fiction from their hero’s perspective. The Living Museum was presented to an audience of students from Reception through Grade 6, as well as parents and teachers. Year 4 students demonstrated confidence, creativity, and pride in their learning, showcasing their deep understanding and connection to the individuals they portrayed. It was a powerful celebration of history, storytelling, and student voice.
As part of their final Unit of Inquiry, our Grade 4 students had the exciting opportunity to visit MNC TV Animation Studio. This visit was a valuable part of their transdisciplinary theme, How We Express Ourselves.
The visit gave students a meaningful and hands-on experience that brought their classroom learning to life. They discovered how media can be used in many creative ways to express ideas, emotions, and stories.
During the visit, students explored:
The forms and functions of different types of media
How different perspectives can shape creative media expressions
The influence of digital messages on society
One of the most exciting parts of the day was seeing the step-by-step process of making an animated cartoon film. From designing characters and adding colors, to voice dubbing and editing, students were amazed to see how all these elements come together to create a complete animated story.
Our students were fully engaged and enthusiastic throughout the visit. It was a wonderful way to connect their classroom learning with the real world and to inspire creativity and curiosity about how media works.
We’re proud of our young learners for their thoughtful observations and reflective questions. This visit was truly a highlight of the term!
