Dear Secondary Community,
The first month after the break has brought our school back to the momentum we left behind at the end of Semester One. It has been an intense and rewarding month, filled with meaningful learning experiences for all. January 31 marked a significant day for our community for three important reasons.
We began the day with the much-anticipated Personal Project Exhibition. The Year 10 Personal Project is a true milestone in the life of an IB MYP student, a testament to their skills, perseverance, and passion developed over the years. More than just an academic requirement, it is an opportunity for students to take ownership of their learning, challenge themselves, and turn their ideas into reality.
This student-led project allows them the freedom to explore their interests, set ambitious goals, and push their limits. We witnessed the incredible outcomes of months of planning, researching, implementing, assessing, and self-reflecting. An experience that prepared them for the next stage of their journey as they step into the IB Diploma Programme.
Later in the afternoon, at 1:30 PM, we began the transition process for our Year 6 students into MYP. A series of meetings and activities will guide this transition, with the first step taking place when eight Year 7 students shared their experiences with Year 6.Â
It was inspiring to see students leading students, encouraging younger children, sharing advice, and motivating them to embrace the opportunities ahead.
The same evening, our Student Council hosted a Leadership Camp to welcome the newest members of their team. During this experience, students planned and executed a well-structured series of activities designed to create team bonds during an overnight, warm, and fun experience. Every minute and aspect of the event was carefully planned to ensure that all participants could take the most from it, a true example of student leadership in action.
Behind each of these events stands our committed and hardworking team of teachers and parents, always leading by example and going the extra mile to support our students. We are proud to say that GJS is a community that works together toward the same goals, fostering a culture of collaboration, dedication, and shared success.
