Maru, Sherina, and I (Ralvaga) took the topic of painting restoration in this UOI 3 project. We experienced challenges when we had to carry out research related to painting restoration, especially the legendary Raden Saleh painting. However, by continuing to explore, we finally completed this task. We present and campaign in front of Class 8 Secondary students. Year 8 students engaged well in this campaign session. During hands-on activity, they are enthusiastic about becoming conservators of damaged paintings and returning them to their original condition.
Artwork restoration is like seeing damaged artwork and trying to restore it by cleaning and sewing it. Artwork restoration helps artists because artists put a lot of effort and time into painting or making artwork. Not only does artwork restoration help artists, but it also helps the art community. Everyone will be happy and relieved knowing the artwork is being handled.
In addition, after an artwork is restored, it's best if it still stays close to its original form, even after conservators paint over an artwork. Repairing paintings that have suffered paint loss, weakened canvas, tears, water damage, fire damage, and insect damage. The conservator's goal is to stabilize the original artwork and integrate any repairs to preserve the artist's original intent.
Some people were born differently. Some kids behaved differently, too. Because of these differences, sometimes conflict among friends happens. Misunderstanding sometimes occurs in society, schools, class, and even in best friends.
We must respect differences, acknowledge that people want different things, and be tolerant. We must understand that other people have different needs and abilities, and nobody can feel better than the rest.
Arlo and I took the topic of friendship restoration for the UOI 3 project under the Sharing the Planet unit. After conducting in-depth research on this topic, we made a presentation as a form of campaign on the importance of maintaining friendships in front of Year 6 students. Followed by a hands-on activity about resolving conflict, which Year 6 students enthusiastically welcomed.
In UOI 3 Sharing the planet project, Ayden and Arjuna learned about mangrove restoration. They worked together and made a presentation and a poster about mangrove restoration. They presented it to the Green School Committee, and it went well. They also did a hands-on activity, and it was fun. After that, they took a picture with the green school committee, and it was a success in the end.
Did you know that the locations with the most mangrove biomes are Asia, Africa, and South America? Also, the main issues with mangrove biomes are climate change and the mangrove biomes being deforested. We should also plant mangrove trees in suitable places to make sure they grow. Lastly, we should restore mangrove biomes because the mangrove biome will be extinct if we don't take action.
On January 21, 2025, Year 5 visited the ASEAN Secretariat Office to explore how ASEAN runs international collaboration. This trip aimed to enhance our understanding of countries engaging in collective decision-making to navigate global challenges and represent their interests.
We began by attending a presentation on the history of ASEAN delivered by Pak Andhie Ananta. Then, we toured the entire office of the ASEAN building, where the ASEAN members' delegates met to discuss the organization's agenda.
One of the most fascinating parts of the trip was seeing pictures and documents of ASEAN history in the museum and library. This field trip gave us a deeper appreciation for history. The trip to the ASEAN Secretariat was both educational and enjoyable. It enhanced our classroom lessons and sparked curiosity about international organizations.
We look forward to exploring more topics in resolving global challenges through international collaboration.
