From January 13th to 17th, Global Jaya School was a hub of literary excitement as students, teachers, and authors celebrated Book Week 2025 under the theme "Reading is Magic." The week was filled with engaging activities, competitions, and special events designed to spark a love of reading across all year levels.
In the weeks leading up to Book Week, primary students excitedly participated in optional competitions, such as the Extreme Reading and Storytelling Video competitions. On the first day of Book Week, January 13, 2025, primary students celebrated Book Week events with a daily Scavenger Hunt activity during break and lunchtime. Also, on the first day, younger students enjoyed Bookmark-Making competitions, while older students participated in a Design-a-Book-Cover competition. It was an excellent learning activity where students needed to use their sense of adventure, imagination, and creativity to finish the task.
One of the highlights of Book Week was the "Meet the Author" session with Junissa Bianda H., a GJS alumna who enchanted students with her writing journey. Another exciting activity was Buddy Reading, where older students from Year 5, Year 6, and Non-Indonesian Secondary classes read to younger students, fostering a shared appreciation for stories.
Another great event was the Book Fair, where students explored the literary treasure trove, discovering new titles and expanding their reading horizons. The excitement was evident as students eagerly browsed through new titles and added to their collections.
The week concluded with a Book Week Assembly, where students dressed as their favorite book characters and paraded across the stage. All the competition winners were also announced, marking a grand finale to an unforgettable week.
