As the pandemic situation is decreasing and we return to schooling and education as it used to be, we find ourselves needing to respond far more frequently to student interactions that have gone wrong, somewhere along the way.
An important part of what students learn at school are skills such as; social skills, responsible decision making, self-awareness, self-regulation, problem solving and conflict resolution. After such a prolonged period of online learning, with students isolated from one another, it is to be expected that many of our students need support in some of these areas. Accordingly, when peer group interactions go wrong, the school is called upon to step in and resolve student conflicts as they arise.
In this workshop, we will give you an inside peek into our internal processes and will share with you our guiding principles and how they affect our work.
Through discussion, parents will have the opportunity to find out more about our spectrum of behaviours and how we use the parameters in our Behaviour policy and Peer on Peer Abuse policy to help us to navigate these very sensitive areas in a school setting.
And finally, we will explore the ways in which we hope to work together with the student and their parents to restore the positive, safe and secure learning environment that is important to us all.
April 5th 2023, 8am: The workshop will be specifically tailored for parents of Primary aged students.
