To celebrate mother language day on February 21st, the Year 4 students explored and discussed why some languages are endangered. This activity was helpful as it taught us about languages we never knew existed. It is also exciting to speak in a language other than English or Bahasa Indonesia. We learned about endangered languages, which are rarely spoken anymore and are in danger of disappearing. Some languages have even become extinct. In Indonesia, there are 13 extinct languages. It is so sad that these languages are disappearing. The good news is that we can save them by learning to speak the language and telling people to do the same. By doing this, we can preserve this fantastic culture of languages that we have made.
The Year 4 students also created a video by singing a happy birthday song in many languages, such as Sundanese, English, Greek, Korean, Javanese, Russian, Arabic, Filipino, Japanese, Brazil, Spanish, Mandarin, Swedish, French, Italian, and German.
Here are some ways to say happy birthday in different languages: Sunda: Wilujeung tepang taun, Greek: charoúmena genéthlia, Javanese: Sugeng Ambal Warsa, Russian: S Dnem rozhdeniya tebya, Arabic: Eid milad saeid, Filipino: Maligayang bati, Japanese: Otanjobi Omedeto, Brazil: Feliz aniversário! and Swedish: Ja Ma han leva.
We learned some new languages from the activity as one way to preserve the language.

On Friday, February 10th, 2023, the Year 4 students performed in the assembly under the Transtheme of Who We Are with the central idea: The interconnectedness of body systems and lifestyle choices contribute to human health.
In this assembly, the students showed important information about six health aspects: healthy eating, learning, relaxing, sleeping, socializing, and exercising.
One of the parts of the assembly was healthy eating; some Year 4 students informed the audience about what to eat and drink to help their bodies stay healthy. In the relaxation part, the Year 4 students asked the audience to have1minute of meditation to make them calm down and reduce their stress levels. In the sleeping part, the students showed the chart, so the audience understood how many hours they needed to sleep daily. In the last part, exercise, all the audience, along with the Year 4 students, did a physical activity which was dancing.
The assembly's intention was to inform the audience of the importance of having a good, heathy, balanced llifestyle because ‘the greatest wealth is health’.
