Making Playdough
Reception students continued their engaging hands-on activities related to colors to better understand how the world works. This time, students were given the opportunity to make their own play dough in collaboration with friends. They worked together while taking turns to put in all the ingredients used and mix them. Then they used the play dough to make an object of their choice.
Reception students showed that they were creative students when making cloud number bonds. In this activity,they figured out how to combine numbers to get different numbers,
Reception students were very happy during the field trip to AEON mall, each student was given the opportunity to find and buy fruits or vegetables that the teacher had previously determined in class.
After shopping at AEON mall, Reception students had the opportunity to be actively involved in preparing vegetables and fruit to make both soup and a refreshing dessert. They were also very enthusiastic when they tried the fruit ice and dishes that our moms made for them. They expressed their gratitude and gave positive comments to our volunteers all while making connections to how we show gratitude linked to UOI 2: Who We Are.
In math lessons, students learned how to apply symmetry skills by drawing half of their faces to match the rest of their face in the form of a photo. Reception students showed their enthusiasm and creativity while doing this activity.
Our artists were presented with a variety of different colored watery paints, a straw, and a piece of paper. They watched how the paint moved and mixed when they blew through a straw. They showed a thinker attitude when they gave the title to their work to match the motion of the paint and the way it mixed.
Reception students continued their experiments using natural dyes. this time they observed discoloration in the rice caused by the use of flowers or fruit. They were amazed when they were shown the color of the cooked rice and they also showed a risk-taking attitude when eating rice that had changed color.
Our Secondary Visual Arts teacher, Ibu Adisty and Librarian, Ibu Hellena, were our guest speakers in Reception during Week 7. They shared their knowledge about how they use colors in their hobbies and daily activities to inspire students for their culmination project.
We also welcomed parents as guest speakers to share how they use color in their businesses to inspire our children for their start-up creations!
Eco printing with natural materials was so much fun! Our inquirers discovered how color could be transferred from flowers to cloth using a Japanese pounding technique called Hapa Zome, made famous by India Flint 🌼 We were so proud of our gorgeous creations!
