Our children are developing number sense and fine motor skills in Kindy with flower and bead bracelets! Our students used Reception’s leftover Eco Printing flowers to match amounts to numbers. They loved comparing designs and patterns!
Through the lens of how experiences shape us, Kindy is learning about their past and making personal connections by comparing what they could do as a baby vs. as a child. 🍼👶🏽👧🏻🧒🏼👦🏾
Our youngest inquirers are developing critical thinking skills by considering meaning from events and materials, learning to evaluate by organizing information, and better understanding the concept of change by recognizing how babies' and childrens’ abilities differ.
We are exploring our transdisciplinary theme, Where We Are in Place and Time through the lens of our first line of inquiry: Personal stories and family traditions. We invited our parents to be guest speakers so they could share presentations of their child’s birth story, how they moved homes, or their family traditions. Teachers created a sign-up form and folder for parents to share their presentations. Our four-year-olds are getting a kick out of seeing their friends as cute babies!
Kindergarten explored shapes and their forms while developing their creative thinking and social skills. They were tasked with making an image using one type of shape with their table group. Sometimes it's challenging not to intervene, but great things happen with more patience and giving space. Soon all groups were interacting and speaking to each other more confidently.
