Our Year 12 students recently finished their mock exams, which serve two primary purposes. The first is to give them experience with Diploma Programme exam conditions and the second purpose is to give teachers a better understanding of how well their Year 12 students can put into practice all of the learning from the last year and a half. Teachers will analyze the results of these mock exams to better understand how to plan, deliver, assess, and review course material from now until the end of the school year. This will be done on both an individual and whole-class basis. This, in turn, gives students a better understanding of where they are in terms of meeting course outcomes. DP Exams begin on 28 April, which may seem like a long time, but Year 12 students have only 24 school days until exams begin, so it is imperative that we (and you) make the most of that time.
Yearbook Photos: The weeks leading up to the Term Break will be busy as ever at GJS, starting with Yearbook photos, March 1 & 2 and March 6 & 7. The theme of this year’s yearbook is intercultural awareness, represented through the lens of the 2022 World Cup. The list of Advisory classes and the country they will represent is here. On the day of their photos, students should come dressed in the colors of the country listed. Photos will be taken first thing in the morning, so it is crucial that students arrive on time on the day of their photos.
Reports: We will publish Term 3 reports at 16:00 on Wednesday, March 15. Years 7-11 reports will consist of student reflections based on the goals they set for themselves in Term 1. There will be no grades on reports for students in years 7-11. Year 12 reports will be based on grade descriptors in consideration of all work completed in the course to this point. This is the final report your Year 12 child will receive from GJS. There are no Term 4 reports for Year 12 students, as most of Term 4 is revision for DP exams.
MSC: We will hold Mid-Semester Conferences (MSCs) Thursday, March 16 (08:00-16:00) and Friday, March 17 (08:00-15:00). We will conduct all MSCs on campus, in the gym. There is no option for online meetings. All MSCs must be booked via PTCFast, according to the instructions and timeline shared via ManageBac on Friday, 24 February. We look forward to seeing you all on campus very soon!
Term Break: With the end of the term comes Term Break. Term Break begins at 15:00 on Friday, March 17 and concludes at 07:15 on Monday, March 27. Just as this is a break for students, it is also a break for teachers. If you must contact teachers during the break, please understand that they might not respond until after 07:15 on Monday, March 27. In case of emergency, please contact the Secondary School Administrative Assistants at adminassistants@globaljaya.com.
