Dear Parents,
Greetings.
Year 12: Here are a few updates to the May 2022 examinations session.
Adaptation to learning, teaching, and assessment
Previous adaptations have been extended to this session
Examination session
IB expects school to make all arrangements to conduct the exams
In the circumstances where a school can’t administer the exams, or the students need to quarantine for a short period - IB will release the grades without exams through the contingency measure
The IB will provide detailed information on contingency measures for some or all of the students in March 2022
IB will not consider any request till this time
If the school identifies that the students are not prepared for the exams, the students can withdraw from the exams or differ to the future session without any additional cost
Awarding
The impact of the global pandemic will be considered throughout the grade awarding process
The IB will set the grade boundaries to mitigate the pandemic effect
Internal assessment coursework
Upload all IA coursework for external marking with the comments. There is also a requirement to upload the IA coursework for Language A
Except for the Arts subjects, and TOK
Predicted grades
The IB will provide the predicted grade distribution for the school
The teachers can exceed the distribution without submitting an exception request
The IB may ask for the evidence for exceeding the prediction later
The IB will provide further information about it in Feb 2022
The school may also be contacted to stay within the distribution but the performance of the candidates is weaker than the previous year
Year 11: Year 11 students have submitted the options of the different subjects for their Extended Essay ( EE) for the May 2023 exam session. Curriculum Leaders (CL) and EE coordinator are going through the list and will release the name of the supervisors with the final subject in the first week of March 2022.
