Greetings Parents, Students, Teachers, and other members of the GJS community!
Did you notice that we are in the middle of Term 3 already? Even in this challenging time, I still feel that time flies so fast! Do you feel that too?
What has made me feel a sense of pride is our school community's resilience, flexibility, and great collaboration despite the changes and adjustments we have made due to the changing government regulations. The support and trust from our school community have allowed these decisions and changes to be implemented smoothly. This ensures the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff are protected and the quality of learning is maintained.
Busy Term
This term has been a busy one, with class activities full of learning engagements, guest speakers, virtual field trips, etc., and also the opportunity to celebrate Chinese New Year and conduct Faculty Professional Development. We are looking forward to seeing the fundraising activity initiated by the Students Council through their Talent Show Event, which will showcase our Primary Students’ talents. Some year levels will also be starting a new unit of inquiry, and please make sure to stay on top of the latest unit explored by your child by reading the class letter sent by each class teacher.
PYP Year 6 Exhibition
Congratulations to our amazing Year 6 students! We had an incredible turnout, and the students really demonstrated their inquiry process and expertise about their topics.
Thank you to our Year 6 team and parents for their efforts and dedication to support all the students and make this year's PYP Exhibition one to remember.
Vaccinating Your Child
To ensure that we continue maintaining our school as a safe and supportive learning environment for our students, allow me to use this opportunity to, again, echo the message from Pak Cory regarding vaccination. If your child is already 6 years old (and above) and has not been vaccinated, please seek the vaccination that is now available nationwide in many places, such as Puskesmas or public vaccination centers. A child could carry the virus and spread it to others if they are not vaccinated. Vaccination protects them and reduces their chances of infecting others. Vaccination also provides your child with the confidence to return to do their normal activities in school.
Mid-Semester Conference
In only two more weeks, we will have our Mid Semester Conference, which will still be conducted virtually this term. The MSC is one of the ways we report the progress of students learning to parents and take a moment to celebrate all the hard work students have done throughout the term. So please ensure that you have booked your time to attend this very important event. If you haven’t done so, please contact Ibu Imas, our Primary Administrative Assistant.
Last but not least, I just want to keep reminding everyone to abide by the requirements to reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19 by following all health protocols.
Stay healthy and safe everyone!
Kind regards
Ibu Dewi
