We were so excited to have all Reception students back in Term 3! We look forward to more terrific learning experiences this semester!
Week 2, Reception students learned about human-made and natural colored objects by making their own playdough. They created their tactile creations in the form of one man-made object and one natural object.
This was one of our fun Science experiments we explored this term. Reception students learned how colors can blend through paper towels that absorbed water with food coloring.
During snack time, we shared what we ate and the colors found on our plate. Look how yummy and colorful they were!
This weeklong project was integrated with Visual Art, Science, and Civics. We started with decorating the eggshell in Visual Art, planting and observing the mung beans in Science, then taking care of the plants in Civics.
Reception students had fun with this turmeric painting activity. We learned how natural colors can be functional as paint. Look at our beautiful paintings!
In this activity, we listened to the story, The Colors of Us, by Karen Katz and discussed why people have different colored skin. Have a look at how we created our own skin colors.
In week 6, Reception invited three guest speakers with different backgrounds. First, we had Ibu Helena (GJS Librarian) to explain how she uses colors in makeup. Next, Ibu Ryani, a local designer from Jogja, talked about colors in fashion. Last, Ibu Putri, a Balinese dancer, discussed how she applies colors in dancing costumes. We also had a Balinese Dancer coloring competition. Congratulations to our winners, Gia and Janeta!
