“Animals are dependent on the environment for survival”, is the central idea of the Year 1 unit of inquiry for this term. This has brought us to find out more about how some organizations contribute to the help for animals’ survival. Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS) foundation and International Animal Rescue (IAR) have shared their knowledge and programs related to orangutan and primates during guest speaker sessions in the past few weeks. The students were engaged in discussion on how BOSF shows efforts to reintroduce the orangutans into safe suitable habitat where they can live an independent life and breed freely. While the IAR shared their roles to save the primates in Indonesia with one of their programmes called 3R + M (Rescue, Rehabilitation, Release and Monitoring). The Year 1 students were also invited to participate in donating to BOSF and IAR by visiting their websites: https://www.orangutan.or.id/adopt and https://www.internationalanimalrescue.or.id/ as a form of action and care to the wildlife.
