Peer on Peer Abuse Parent Workshop
A usual part of growing up is learning how to be around others in a safe and respectful way. All of us, at some point, have made mistakes with regards to how we interact with others. It is reasonable to expect the same from our children.
Global Jaya is committed to creating and sustaining a safe and supportive school environment for all of our students. When students make mistakes in their interactions with others we need a framework that guides us in our responses to these mistakes.
The Child Protection team have been working on a Peer on Peer Abuse policy that outlines; a spectrum of behaviour that encompassses normal through to abusive behaviour; possible examples of behaviours in each category in the spectrum and types of school responses at each point in the behaviour spectrum.
Before finalising the Peer on Peer Abuse policy, we would love to ask for parent feedback on our ideas and processes. The Child Protection team would like to invite all parents from across the whole school to join a parent workshop on Wed 7th April at 3pm. We plan to deliver a brief overview before asking parents to interact with the policy in small groups. The feedback and questions generated in this group work will help us to consider parental perspectives on the way in which we deal with student interactions at Global Jaya School.
