Dear Parents,
Since we have published our last Kontak, GJS has celebrated Isra Mi'raj, Nyepi, as well as Good Friday, and now we have entered the Holy month of Ramadan. Our school community is one of many faiths where we appreciate, learn about, and celebrate each other's faiths together. To all of our Muslim families, we wish you and yours four weeks of mercy, 30 days of worship, 720 hours of spirituality, 43,200 minutes of forgiveness, 2592000 seconds of happiness. Ramadan Kareem Mubarak.
Ibu Melvy has been a tremendous support to and positive influence on GJS and our school community. She has worked tirelessly to ensure that parents are informed, active, and engaged with school improvement efforts and activities that support our academic and non-academic programs. She has also assured that clear two-way communication exists between parent representatives and school leadership, administration, and faculty. I have appreciated Ibu Melvy as a mom, parent, leader, and colleague over these past two years. The Parents Association will be holding nominations and will elect a new Chairperson before the end of the school year. The PA leadership will share out details on the process. If you have questions regarding the procedure or nominate a candidate, please contact Ibu Vera Febrina at vunisulawati@gmail.com.
To date, we have had multiple campus visitations from our local educational and health authority representatives from Tangerang Selatan. These visitations have focused on our preparations related to Early Years (Kindergarten and Reception) and Middle School (Years 7 - 9). Feedback is being provided, as is the case for the few schools visited in Bintaro, and our General Affairs team is immediately actioning the recommendations. Overall we are well prepared and have been directed to post additional signage in classrooms, directional arrows in the hallways, and signage indicating that the canteen is not operational. These, plus a few other items, will be completed in the coming days. We have yet to receive the exact timing when visitations for Primary School (Years 1-6) and High School (Years 10-12) will occur but anticipate these to happen soon.
Yesterday, one parent of each of our Kindergarten to Year 11 students was emailed a link to our Blended Learning Parent Permission / Declaration form. We request all parents complete and submit the form for each of their children by May 4, 2021.
Our local educational authorities have informed us that to receive authorization from our transition to Blended Learning, we MUST collect data from our parent population regarding their approval to send their children onto campus for educational activities. As has been previously communicated, it remains our intention to begin with small-group, targeted-learning activities for a small, select group of learners. After successfully implementing small group engagements, we would seek to grow on-campus student participation in Blended Learning, to where eventually we would seek to include all of our students K-12. Completing this form does not mean that you will be asked to send your children to school immediately. These are the required steps that we must meet to open with on-campus activity for the new 2021-2022 academic year.
If you or your spouse/partner have not yet received copies of the survey forms for your children, please email me at headofschool@globaljaya.com, and we will arrange the needful.
Two weeks ago, we launched our first-ever comprehensive school-wide surveys. The four targeted surveys, collecting critical data from students, faculty, staff, and parents, will provide us with insight into our stakeholder-identified areas of success and challenge. We developed all of the survey tools to align with our WASC accreditation and IB authorization criterion, thus allowing us to gather feedback on:
A. Our organization for student learning.
B. Our curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.
C. Our support for student personal and academic growth, and finally
D. Our school culture and environment.
The surveys are a critical piece to support our ongoing school improvement efforts, ensuring that we remain focused on increasing student achievement.
We have had a robust response to date based on the high number of completed and submitted surveys we have received so far. We appreciate how our community members have taken this survey seriously. Please note that the survey collector will close at the end of the school day on May 7, 2021. Those completing and submitting the survey will receive a thank you message, while those who have not will receive a reminder message. Once the data has been collected, collated, and revised, we will prepare a detailed report of findings to be shared with community members before starting the 2021-2022 academic year.
As we will be updating our school information system in the coming weeks, and we need your help and support in ensuring that the data within our system is accurate as possible. We seek your most accurate data for address, email, telephone contacts for your family, as well as fee payer information and passport details for each of your children.
This information is treated as confidential and will be used for the sole purpose of updating our school information system and Managebac.
