Diploma Programme Update: March - April, 2020
Dear Parents,
Here are a few updates regarding the programme at the school.
Year 12:
The teachers have uploaded all the coursework ( Internal assessments) and External Assessments to eCoursework for marking. The IB will release the results on July 6, 2021, at 12 GMT for the students and parents. I have shared the information with the students on how to access their results and apply for result request services and other relevant information. You can access the link for guidance and update.
As you know, the schools are provided with the predicted grade profile for May 2021 examination for exam and non-exam route (calculated). We have requested the reconsiderations to the predicted grade team for English LL SL, English B HL, Economics HL, Business Management HL & SL, Psychology HL, Biology HL & SL, Chemistry HL & SL, Physics SL, EES SL, MAI HL, MAA HL & SL, and Visual Arts HL. We have provided the required evidence and waiting for a response. The IB will use IA uplift process if the students performed higher in their coursework (IAs) than the previous cohorts, then the assessment team will review the predicted grades distributions and add the additional marks in the predicted grade of the students before the final results will be announced on July 5, 2021.
Year 11:
We have collected the extended essay choices of the students’ subjects and in the process of assigning the supervisors. The final list will be shared with the students in the last week of April, and will complete the process in January 2022.
The IB registration for the 2022 cohort will start in the last week of May 2021, and the final registration will be shared with the parents in the last week of August 2021 for their approval. The DP office will release the candidate numbers and other information on September 6, 2021, for the teachers and students.

Dear parents,
The IB has published two documents recently that provide expanded or revised guidance for the May 2021 examination session, based on the changes announced in the Updates for 2020–21: Learning, teaching and assessment publication.
The first document, Further details for schools on the M21 adapted assessment, includes the following additional information on the May 2021 session:
general information about the adaptations to the May 2021 assessments
subject-by-subject information on the adapted May 2021 assessments, including examination timing and weighting
high-level guidance for each subject on how schools might adapt their teaching and learning to account for disruptions.
The second document is the Addendum for May 2021 guidance on internal and other non-examination coursework assessment components. This document provides information on assessment components affected by the May 2021 adaptations.
The IB has also published the final May 2021 examination schedule for the Diploma Programme.
The new schedules reflect the adjustments made to the May 2021 assessment components, and we have shared these adjustments with the students. We will conduct Mock exams as per these changes.

Diploma Programme Update: August, 2020
Dear Parents,
The school year is well underway and, while we focus on our current Year 11 and 12 students, I must share some recent updates about May 2020 DP results. These changes will impact the way we analyze future teaching and learning in the Diploma Programme at GJS. Please see below for more details.
Because May 2020 exams were canceled, the IB used an awarding model to present the final grades to the candidates for May 2020 exam session. The model consists of three components:
Individual assessments (IAs)/coursework.
Predicted grades ( PGs)
School context.
The IB developed a multiplying factor for each subject and level (SL or HL) out of the relationship between:
predicted grade accuracy,
performance in coursework versus examination components,
final outcome.
This was applied equally to all students in the subject and level. The school context was not based on the performance of past cohorts.
On August 16, 2020, the IB amended May 2020 grades by adjusting the consideration between internal assessments and predicted grades. Due to this update, theGJS diploma pass rate for May 2020 is now 98.50%, and the school average total point is 33 with a high score of 41 points.
All Curriculum Leaders and Diploma Programme teachers, in collaboration with the Secondary Leadership Team, have reflected on and analyzed DP Exams results from the past five years (2015-2020) and developed a plan of action for each department to continue to improve teaching and learning in the Diploma Programme. Each department will emphasize the process and completion of IAs and work to narrow the gap between predicted grades and the final grades. We are basing this work on the recently announced changes to May 2021 DP Exams.
