The website below is your one stop location to go to look for creative writing competitions. These competitions are not run by school so make sure you are happy before you submit your work!

Creative writing and scouts

Are you a scout? Did you know there is a creative writing badge you can work towards? If you have not got your creative writing badge yet then why not have a go at some of these tasks. Even if your not a scout you can still take part!

Option 1:

Compose a poem of at least eight lines. Discuss its meaning and construction.

Option 2:

Write a 600 word review of a favourite book, play or other work of literature and talk about it with an adult.

Option 3:

Produce a published article of around 600 words in lengths.

Option 4:

Write a letter to a local paper.



Option 5:

Keep a diary on a subject, for a length of time agreed with an adult.

Option 6:

Write a play or dramatic sketch lasting at least 10 minutes.

Option 7:

Write a letter to a pen pal (real or imaginary) of at least 600 words.

Option 8:

Write a descriptive passage of around 600 word
