English 9 courses

English 9 continues to provide students with opportunities to connect with diverse texts that develop their appreciation of language as a source of creativity, joy and understanding of themselves and their world. First People’s texts will play a key role in analysis that highlights the importance of multiple perspectives as students extend their thinking and synthesise interpretations in the construction of new understanding. Students will work with a variety of sentence types and lengths, paragraph structures, literary techniques, and figurative devices to develop their voice and to communicate their understanding. Students will have opportunities to practice and present their understanding through written and oral texts.
