CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand (Duke's Dispatch) - There was a shooting at two separate Mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand on Friday, March 15. As of this moment, 50 are confirmed dead whilst many more are injured. The massacre was perpetrated by an Australian self described "White Nationalist" who shall remain nameless out of respect for the victims.

The attacks began at the Al Noor Mosque in the Christchurch suburb of Riccarton at around 1:40 PM. Over 300 people were in the Mosque for friday prayer when the gunman opened fire.

The first 17 minutes of the attack where live streamed via Facebook Live. With the shooter frequently referencing internet culture and white nationalist propaganda

During the attack a Muslim worshiper named Mian Naeem Rashid ran at the gunman, but was shot and he subsequently died.

The shooter then made an effort to find wounded victims and shoot them again. He then left the mosque and fired at people outside before getting into his car and leaving the scene.

The shooter then drove the the Linwood Islamic Centre where he began shooting at around 1:55 PM. Around seven were killed in this part of the masacre.

The shooter was subsequently arrested, around 20 minutes after the first emergency call was made, and three other suspects have been arrested in connection the the attack.

As a result of this shooting the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, announced that her and her government would introduce new regulations that would outlaw the sale and use of Military style weapons and assault rifles. These measure have strong amounts of support in New Zealand's Parliament in both political parties, with the leader of New Zealand's opposition Simon Bridges coming out in support of the actions.

New Zealand's Program would involve gun buybacks which would see the Government paying for the guns and then destroying them.

There are exceptions for hunters and farmers, as well as those who work in the killing of vermin.

This plan is expected to go into effect in the next few months.
