A pediatric patient, under ten years of age, has tested positive for coronavirus on March 19, 2020. The child is currently at home recovering.

There are 101 cases as of right now in Virginia. The number is going up each day, unfortunately.

The Three Rivers Health District Director Dr. Richard Williams has said, “Given the nature of the current outbreak, discovering COVID-19 in our community does not come as a surprise and we expect to see more cases in the coming weeks.” The director is not surprised that there is a case in Gloucester and he is also expecting more in the next few weeks. Dr. Richard Williams also stated, “The public Health Department is in close communication with the family and health professionals involved, and is conducting a thorough investigation of potential exposures.” He has already been looking for the places and people he may have exposed the coronavirus too.

The child is at home recovering and is thankfully projected to be ok.
