The Gloucester High School Choir Department hosted a student-lead cabaret on may 13-14 at 7pm in the GHS auditorium. The show was spearheaded and directed by Seniors Devonte Garcia and Veronica Trist, and sponsored by Mrs. Watkins and Mr. Alexander.

Veronica and Devonte organized the show to replace the Spring musical that was cancelled due to Covid. They selected the songs, assigned them to performers, secured the venue, and provided accompaniment. Devonte stated “It was a little bit tough just like trying to cast everybody and stuff like that, you have to make sure you give the right person the right song that fits their voice so that was a little tough” which was one of the many hoops they had to go through. Veronica also mentioned “Because of Covid we were going to do it outside so we contacted all these people and then the school board was like no we got to do it inside” which is just another example of how hard it was to set this up.

The songs that were performed in the cabaret were Cabaret by Larkin Denton, Stronger by Casey Hunt, Candle On The Water by Nancy Colwell, Breathe by Olivia Fitzgerald, We Raise Our Cups by Victoria King and Taryn Legg, Freeze Your Brain by Adam Hogge, Sonya Alone by Kaylin Amaral, Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life by Jacob Underwood and Maxwell Moulenbelt, Light In The Dark by Owen Hogge, I See Stars by Avery Watkins, Some Things Are Meant To Be by Mathea Anderson and Nancy Colwell, Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Kayleigh Davison, Lost In The Darkness by Aaron Cirillo, A Change In Me by Mackenzie Tobin and Anybody Have A Map by Avery Watkins and Kendall Pratt. That wraps up the first half before the intermission.

In the second half of the cabaret the songs that were performed were Louder Than Words by Adam Hogge, Lewie Lawrence and Veronica Trist, A Cockeyed Optimist by Rey Hogge, Endless Night by Devonte Garcia, When Your Feet Don’t Touch The Ground by Lauren King and Adam Hogge, Times Are Hard For Dreamers by Taryn Legg, Empty Chairs At Empty Tables by Lewie Lawrence, Everything Changes by Veronica Trist, No One Is Alone by Victoria King and Aaron Cirillo, I Have A Dream by Mary Mcsweeny, God Help The Outcast by Meadow Spears, Who I’d Be by Joel Junker, Olivia Fitzgerald, and Owen Hogge, You’ll Never Walk Alone by Kendal Pratt and ended with a group performance of You Will Be Found by Lewie Lawrence, Meadow Spears, Adam Hogge, Veronica Trist, Jacob Underwood, and Devonte Garcia.
