Tyson returns to the ring and Paul KO’s Robinson

A great night of boxing between legends and celebrities

On Saturday, the highly-anticipated fight between boxing legends Roy Jones Jr. and Mike Tyson occured. Jones, who is 51, and Tyson, who is 54 and has not boxed since 2006, didn’t seem like their old selves as the match ended in a much debated tie. All judges scored the winners differently, and Tyson wasn’t happy. “ I was afraid I might get hurt….. I didn’t fight in 20 years.”

The fight lasted two eight minute rounds, compared to the normal three that Tyson and Jones were used to. Rapper Snoop Dogg streamed the fight and provided some interesting commentary. Joint in his hand the whole time, the famous rapper made funny quips like saying Jones and Tyson looked like uncles fighting at a barbeque.

The second fight of the night was between former NBA Slam Dunk champion Nate Robinson and controversial YouTube star Jake Paul. Paul, who has boxed before, easily defeated the inexperienced Robinson in two rounds. The former Disney Channel star has been in the news before, most recently in the summer of 2017, when a group of him and his friends (calling themselves “Team 10”) harassed their neighbors in Los Angeles with dead memes and throwing items out of windows.

Paul, hot off a win against a non-boxer, is already calling out boxing superstars like Conor Mcgregor, saying he is “devoting his life to beating Conor McGregor.’” After the fight, he was quick to shade Robinson, as he posted multiple pictures with him wearing the former New York Knicks’ jersey.
