Jv Dukes baseball show up to play at Heritage

Reporter James Turner

On Tuesday, March 19th, Gloucester high school's JV baseball team played at Heritage, knocking them out of the water 29-0. The Dukes played a very aggressive game, both offensive and defensive, and Heritage was strongly unable to keep up with the game that was going around them.

The game was a fast paced game when it came to scoring, but was definitely the opposite when it came to watching the game coming, off as very slow paced. Scoring, batting and pitching were all time consuming events throughout the game.

Leading deeper into the early innings, the scoring and game play began to pick up even more. With the Dukes scoring more than 15-20 before the 5th inning, the Dukes had intentions to “mercy rule” Heritage.

More towards the later innings of the 4th and the 5th, The Dukes began to treat the game as batting practice and hit anything close, earning more hits, building team confidence, and earning runs. Throughout the rest of the game, the turnout soon became clear. The ending score was 29-0. The Dukes showed support and recognized Heritage for their strong attempt and good sportsmanship.

Both teams getting ready to play the follow up game on Friday, March 22, at GHS (Gloucester High School) @ 4:30 PM, they studied each other carefully, remembering each other's strengths, weaknesses, and strongest players.

Along with both of the teams preparing their minds to play once again, the Dukes fought for a more conservative, and possibly even aggressive, game style. Heritage, possibly preparing for a more aggressive game style this time around, will most likely be eager to prove that their team is a team to be reckoned with.
