On the afternoon of Tuesday, November 19th, a local convenience store was robbed at gunpoint. The suspect happened to get away without the police catching him and is now being searched for by the sheriff's office.

Around 5:45 P.M, just after it had turned dark outside, police officials responded to an armed robbery call at the Stop & Go in Gloucester County at 1505 George Washington Memorial Highway.

The male suspect was described to be an African American or Hispanic man of light complexion. He was also reportedly described to be 5’9 to 6 foot, also had a slim build and was last wearing a navy-colored hoodie, dark pants and something red covering his face.

The suspect was caught on the convenience store security cameras to give the police just a slightly better image on what the perpetrator looked like and was wearing at the time.

The man entered the convenience store with a small firearm and demanded money from the store owner. The sheriff’s office says the store owner complied with the robber’s demands. The robber then put an undisclosed amount of money into a bag and fled the store on foot. The police are still on the lookout for the suspect.

Some locals were not aware of the robbery until the police put out the information of the suspect. Senior Austin Kent stated “I have lived at the point all my life. I was just at the Stop & Go around three weeks ago getting orange juice. It is just so mind blowing to me that something like this could happen in such a small town like Gloucester. I hope the catch the guy because that’s crazy”.

Others were aware and were shocked to hear about it as well. Senior Yasmin Green said, “I have been going in there everyday since I was a little girl. When I was driving home that night I saw the police there and I just knew that it had been robbed.”

The sheriff's office is doing everything the can now to find the suspect, and hopefully they’re eventually successful.
