Peninsula Lights Up for the Holidays

Despite Covid, Christmas cheer finds a way to stand out during these dark times.

Christmas is right around the corner! Safe, fun, and socially distant Christmas activities are going to be hard to plan this year, but thankfully, festive displays are located right around the corner.

Holiday light displays are located all over the peninsula. They are also timed so that after school or work you are able to go see them!

Hampton

On Saturday, December 12th from 5-9 pm, take a stroll along a trail of 2.5 miles of Christmas lights and happiness. Entrances and parking can be found at the Hampton Coliseum and Air Power Park. Admission costs $4 per person, and children ages six and under get in for free.

Newport News

Another event is the Holiday Lights Tour that will run from 5:30-10 pm nightly November 26 until January 1st.

The Newport News City Center Fountain Plaza has a winter wonderland full of festive decorations and dazzling lights. Every half hour from 5-9 pm, enjoy a show with lights and falling “snow” set to holiday music. The lights and decorations will be available from December 5th until January 1st, and admission is completely free.

The Celebration in Lights holiday event opens on Thanksgiving night, November 26th. Newport News Park, at the intersection of Ft. Eustis Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue, will be transformed by over a million tiny tiny lights. The display will be open each evening from 5:30 pm to 10 pm through January 1, 2021. Admissions Monday through Thursday will be $12 per car, while Friday through Sunday $15 per car. Tickets that are good for any night can be purchased in advance for $10 at the Newport News Visitor Center at Newport News Park.

Yorktown

Historic Yorktown is the place for friends and family to safely gather together to eat, shop, and create lasting memories this holiday season.

For the entire month of December, special traditions will be among us. Christmas Market on Main Street to Christmastide in Virginia and Viking Yuletide.

The Tree Lighting in Yorktown has been canceled due to Covid-19. Christmas Market on Main will be Saturday, December 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p. m.to Sunday, December 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Viking Yuletide of Yorktown was Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m.-5 p.m.
