Boat Crash at the Point

Sunday, 09/15/2019, 9:00 pm- First respondents arrive on scene to a call stating a boat crashed into the pier. Upon arrival local homeowners told them the man that crashed the boat was still in the boat.

The responding crew also reported the boater had struck an anchored sailboat at the mouth of Sarah’s Creek, nobody was aboard but one occupant was in the water surrounding the sailboat, they were later rescued by the 2nd responding crew. Nobody from the sailboat was injured but the sailboat itself was significantly damaged.

The motorboat struck an additional pier before becoming lodged in the final dock.

Abington Volunteer Fire and Rescue responded with two boats, a medic, and a rescue and command vehicle.

The man was initially being cared for by local homeowners until first aid arrived. The medics and firefighters were next on scene and decided to call in for an Airlift.

The patient was then taken to a landing zone and Airlifted to a local hospital.

York County Fire and Life safety arrived on scene to help clean up any hazardous debris that may have interfered with investigation.

No one involved with the incident has been named.
