SCA Hosts “Pie in the Face” Fundraiser for Adam Neely Scholarship.

Students work hard to get money into honorable scholarship.

From March 2nd to March 6th, the SCA hosted a “Pie in the Face” fundraiser. The premise was that you put money in a jar designated to a teacher you’d like to get Pie-d at the Spring Prep Rally. The money went to the Adam Neely Scholarship, an academic scholarship established in honor of former GHS administrator Mr. Adam Neely, who sadly passed on. The SCA worked hard to promote the fundraiser, and it was a huge success, racking in over $600.

According to the SCA President, 12th grader Alex Reba, “The scholarship can go to someone in the school, or someone in the community.” The fundraiser was fun, and the scholarship might go to someone who needs it.

The participating teachers and staff members included Principal Mr. Reed, Ms. Simpson, Mr. Mygas, Ms. Hendrix, Ms. Simpson, Lt. Petro, Mr. Winkler, Mr. Campbell, Mr. Keeley, Mr. Crowley, Ms. Sturtz, and Ms. Riva.

The three highest earners, who eached recieved the business end of a pie at the conclusion of Friday's pep rally, were Mr. Keely, Ms. Simpson, Mr. Mygas, and Lt. Petro.

Along with the many benefits, the fundraiser was entertaining to do, as the winning teacher, Mr. Keeley, would get pied in the face at the prep rally. I’m sure many students were ecstatic to see him get pied. The fundraiser had an end result that everyone could look forward to, and that is what makes a fundraiser good. A fundraiser would not get much money if it didn't appeal to people’s interest, and this fundraiser did just that.

Another part of the fundraiser was the spirit week. With exciting days, such as movie monday, western wednesday, and tropical thursday, students were excited to dress up all week. Moral seemed boosted, and it made the school day much more interesting. Spirit week gave students something to look forward to everyday, and an excuse to dress up.

The entire spirit week was a huge success. The SCA raised much needed money for the Adam Neely Scholarship, and gave students something to look forward to: Their favorite teacher getting pied in the face.
